The 1st Silent Film Festival in Thailand
Film Archive (Public Organization) collaborated with British Council Thailand would like to invite you to The 1st Silent Film Festival in Thailand. The screenings of these silent films will be accompanied by piano pieces by a professional pianist trained especially to play pieces to accompany silent movies.
There will be 7 silent films shown including works by Alfred Hitchcock the man behind successful movies such as “Psycho”, “North by Northwest” and “The Birds”. His silent films to be shown at the festival include “The Pleasure Garden”, “The Ring” and “The Lodger”.
Other films include “Pri de Beaute” by Louise Brooks. One Asian film, “The Little Toys” which was made by China.
Pianists Maud Nelissen from the Netherlands and Mie Yanashita from Japan will bring life to the festival with their live performance. The world class silent movie pianists have performed all over the world and recently attended the Pordenone Silent Film Festival in Italy. World renowned Thai musician and conductor Trisdee na Pattalung will also be performing music in accompaniment to “The Lodger” to close off the festival.
Thailand’s first Silent Film Festival will be held from August 7-12, 2014 at Lido cinema and on August 13 at Scala Theatre. For more information please visit www.facebook.com/silentfilmthailand
